Ralston Area Baseball Association would like to teach our very own players to learn the skill of officiating baseball games. Our mission in training umpires is to build character and to teach our young officials how to create positive interactions with players and coaches. RABA is a no tolerance league and we do not allow our Coaches, players, or fans to bring hostility to the game or the officials. RABA does have umpire equipment that can be checked out; however, you are encouraged to have your own. Umpires will need to purchase the powder blue official short sleeved shirt. You may purchase the umpire uniform shirt from any vendor. The umpire may wear black or dark gray shorts/long pants and choice of shoes at the umpire’s expense. You will be given a game indicator “clicker”, plate brush and timer you come to orientation and training. The officials will be responsible to replace any items lost at their own expense.

We have seen many of our umpires that start off in our environment here in recreational baseball go on to work for higher level umpire companies here in Omaha. Getting started at this level in our league is a perfect way to learn how to umpire in less intense situations. This is an experience that you can take anywhere with you for the rest of your life! We have had many of our officials go to college and pick up some extra cash by officiating games in their college towns!
